Description: Butternut squash that ripens early and produces large square, fleshy and fragrant fruits. Its flesh, bright orange in color, is tasty and the plants are vigorous and perfectly adapted to North American growing conditions. Cultivation for the warm season, which requires temperatures of 18 to 27⁰ C. Sow indoors 3 to 4 weeks before the last spring frost or directly in the garden. Sow each seed 2.5 cm deep, in mounds 1.5 to 2 m apart. Thin out later, keeping the 2 or 3 best plants. It requires warm, fertile, well-drained soil and full sun exposure. Water heavily, to conserve moisture, incorporate organic matter into the soil and mulch after planting. In cooler regions, protect the young plants with cloches or tunnels. Types with running vines can be installed on solid supports. Before harvesting winter squash, make sure that the fruit is completely ripe and that its rind is quite hard.
