Description: Formerly nicknamed "buckwheat", whole white buckwheat can be used as an accompaniment to replace potatoes, rice and pasta or to make your own sprouts.
Ingredients: 100% Canadian organic buckwheat. Free of peanuts, tree nuts, egg, milk, sesame, corn and mustard.
Directions: Bring 1 cup (250 ml) of water to a boil. Carefully pour in 1/2 cup (120 ml) of buckwheat. Cover, reduce the heat to low and simmer without stirring until the grains are tender and the water has evaporated (10 to 15 minutes). Halfway through cooking, 1/2 cup of sautéed vegetables can be added. A good substitute for potatoes or rice. Makes 3 servings.
