Certified organic, Yupik green lentils are an excellent source of protein, fiber and iron! Rich in soluble fibre, they are the basis of the diet to help reduce cholesterol, the risk of cardiovascular disease and stabilize blood sugar levels.
Directions: Like pasta, lentils can be cooked in salted boiling water. They cook for approximately 30 minutes (they are tender, but still a bit crunchy), or until desired consistency. Store them in a cool, dry place for up to 36 months.
Use: Tender with a sweet and earthy taste, they can easily replace meat in meals: they can also be added to salads and soups. They mix and puree well, if you want to add more texture, thickness and flavor to your recipes. Traditionally, lentils can be used in soups, salads, curries, and delicious side dishes. Green lentils are also great for vegetarian meals. Thanks to their small size, they look like minced meat. Use them in place of meat in shepherd's pie, meatloaf (purée them for this meal), meatballs, tomato bolognese sauce, stuffings, and more.
